Last April’s devastating deluge graphically underscored the value of the long-term and ongoing environmental protection work on this coastal hill country property, near Porangahau.

The judges commended the priority given to the protection of the 660ha (547ha effective) of land, and the obvious commitment to Rangitoto’s enhancement and sustainability. They wrote: “James and Jane have shown an absolute passion for the land. Their knowledge of trees, wildlife, soils, stock and the overall performance of their farming business both financially and environmentally is outstanding.”
